Standard Book of Spells, Grade 1
What you will read here, I believe, lies in the capacities of any student that graduated from their first year at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. The spells described should not be practiced without proper teacher supervision or at all without being learned first in class.
The spells:
Alohomora - Pronounced "al-o-ho-mor-ah" with the accent falling on the first "a" and "mo". Alohomora is a charm that can unlock almost any lock. It can only be successful if the lock has not been bewitched specifically against it or if it is not a sort of special lock. The caster needs to tap the targeted lock in order for the charm to work.
"Bluebell flames" Charm - A charm that causes blue flames looking a bit like bells shoot from the casters wand; the flames can then be directed at a certain place and the flames heat can be controlled. The flames can be transported in a jar or bottle. The incantation is â "Flammulae".
Body-Bind Curse - Pronounced "Petrificus Totalus", this curse turns the victim's entire body rigid and impedes them from moving until the counter curse is cast.
Defensive Charge - This is an automatic defensive spell that activates itself depending on the situation, when the person is threatened physically. It does not require a wand and cannot be directed; therefore, it can hit someone who is not the caster's enemy. It is perceived as a sort of a bolt of lightning running from the caster's skin and hitting the attacker.
Erecto - This is a very practical spell that makes an object stand straight, sets it up. The stress falls on the second syllable. The caster needs to point at the object.
Hover Charm - This charm makes an object float in the air. It holds as long as the person can hold their wand pointed and their concentration on the object. The incantation is "Pendeo".
Levitation Charm - A very famous and one of the most frequently used spells, the levitation charm makes any object it is directed at fly. The caster needs to point their wand and pronounce "Wingardium Leviosa" by stressing on the "gar" and the "o". Then, they can control where the object flies by moving their wand in the desired direction. The wand movement is a soft swish and then a flick; a second brisk flick can break the spell and make the object fall down again.
Lumos - Pronounced "Loo-mos" with the accent on "loo". This spell makes a beam of light shoot from the end of the casters wand. It is one of the most useful spells in our world.
Nox - The reverse of the Lumos spell, makes the beam of light go away.
